Porsche is doubling its model range for the all-electric Macan.

Porsche is doubling the model range for its first fully electric SUV: While the focus of the Macan with rear-wheel drive was primarily on high efficiency and range, the new Macan 4S fills the gap between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. Like the models presented in early 2024, the 4S features the electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), which distributes the drive power between the front and rear axles around five times faster than a conventional all-wheel drive system.

Macan: 100 kWh battery and highly efficient power electronics
The new Macan entry-level model in Porsche's all-electric SUV world also draws its energy from a high-voltage battery with a gross energy content of 100 kWh. Propulsion is provided exclusively by the rear axle motor known from the Macan 4 with a diameter of 210 millimeters, an active length of 200 millimeters and an output of 250 kW (340 hp). The electric motor has a 480-amp pulse inverter (PWR), which uses the highly efficient semiconductor material silicon carbide (SiC) to increase efficiency. It significantly reduces switching losses in the PWR and enables higher switching frequencies. In conjunction with the launch control, the Macan achieves up to 265 kW (360 hp) overboost power, with a maximum torque of 563 Nm. From a standstill, the 100 km/h mark is reached after 5.7 seconds, and the top speed is 220 km/h. By omitting all-wheel drive, the Macan is 110 kilograms lighter than the Macan 4 and requires less electricity. This results in a combined WLTP range of up to 641 kilometers.

Macan 4S: Powerful electric motors and PASM as standard
The Macan 4S has a new rear axle motor and a powerful 600-ampere SiC pulse inverter. The diameter of the electric motor is 230 millimeters and the active length is 150 millimeters. Together with the front axle motor known from the Macan 4 and Turbo, this results in a system output of 330 kW (448 hp), which briefly increases to up to 380 kW (516 hp) in overboost. The maximum torque with Launch Control is 820 Nm. The driving performance is correspondingly impressive: the Macan 4S with Launch Control completes the standard sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and the top speed is 240 km/h. The combined WLTP range is up to 606 kilometers. The Macan 4S is equipped with the electronic damper control Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. The adaptive air suspension with level control and height adjustment, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering allow the chassis to be further optimized for sportiness and comfort if desired.

The two new models have all the qualities of the second generation of the Macan, such as the progressive, timeless design with range-optimized aerodynamics (cw = 0.25). The 800-volt architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) enables a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW. The charge level of the HV battery can be increased from ten to 80 percent within around 21 minutes at a suitable rapid charging station.

New color, new wheels, new off-road design package
A new exterior color, slate gray neo, is now available for all Macan models. The 20-inch Macan S wheel complements the wheel portfolio. In addition, a new off-road design package is optionally available for all models. This makes the Macan even more suitable for everyday use: rough dirt roads, but also particularly steep ascents or descents can be mastered more confidently. A lower front section with modified geometry increases the approach angle to up to 17.4 degrees, depending on the chassis (air suspension at special off-road level). In conjunction with the adaptive air suspension, the off-road design package also increases the ground clearance at normal level by ten millimeters to 195 millimeters.

Porsche offers the package in two color variants: in Vesuvius gray and in the exterior color. The lower part of the front end, the side skirts, the diffuser panel and the roof rails are then painted accordingly. Matching these are 21-inch off-road design wheels painted in Vesuvius gray. In the off-road design package painted in the exterior color, the side blades are also painted in the respective color. The roof rails can be ordered in black, silver or turbonit (only Turbo).

For the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S, the off-road front lower section with Vesuvius grey insert is also available separately. The approach angle increases in line with the off-road design package.

Porsche Driver Experience with new design and new function
With the electrification of the Macan, Porsche has introduced a completely new display and operating system into its successful SUV model. The Porsche Driver Experience offers a mix of digital and analogue elements. These include an instrument cluster with a 12.6-inch curved display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality technology and ambient lighting with communication light. Porsche has once again fundamentally revised the design of the Driver Experience for all Macan models. It now includes an emotional welcome display, an even more modern look and the new "Themes app", with which the background colour of the displays and ambient lighting can be adapted to the exterior colour in twelve colours.

The two new Macan models can be ordered now and will be delivered to Swiss customers in the second half of the year. Prices including VAT in Switzerland start at 91,900 Swiss francs for the Macan and 95,800 Swiss francs for the Macan 4S.
