With a time of 7: 40.748 minutes, the new Audi RS 3 Sedan is the fastest compact model on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. In June, Audi Sport racing and development driver Frank Stippler undercut the previous lap record in this class by 4.64 seconds. The torque splitter with its fully variable torque distribution on the rear axle contributed in particular to the record time.

“I am proud of the whole team. Everyone worked hard for the day, ”said Marvin Schwätter, technical project manager for the Audi RS 3, when the record time was on the board. “When we started development, we didn't know how fast our compact sports car would really be on the Nordschleife,” he explains. "But in the endurance test we found that we can achieve very good times and set a new record."

Before the record lap, driver Frank Stippler's team only adjusted the tire pressure in the semi-slick Pirelli P Zero "Trofeo R" to the track conditions. “We don't have unlimited possibilities to strive for such a record,” said Stippler. “That's why a little bit is always necessary on the day that matters - especially when it comes to tire pressure, because that also influences the function of the torque splitter. We were successful. It was an all-round triumphant day. "
