The new Toyota GR 86 inherits the most important driving fun features of the original Toyota GT86, which came onto the market in 2012 and has been sold over 200,000 times worldwide. It is expected to be the lightest four-seat coupe in the segment thanks to a variety of weight-saving initiatives such as the use of aluminum roof and body panels.
Driven by a new, lightweight boxer four-cylinder engine, which has been enlarged to 2.4 liters, the output of the Toyota GR 86 is higher than that of its predecessor.

The dimensions of the new Toyota GR 86 are almost identical to those of the Toyota GT86, so the new model maintains a low center of gravity for greater agility. In addition, the torsional stiffness has been increased by around 50% compared to the Toyota GT86 in order to achieve even sharper handling and even better steerability.
Functional aerodynamic components such as the front air ducts and side sills were developed from the model's participation in motorsport and help the Toyota GR 86 achieve the best driving characteristics and stability expected.
The brand new Toyota GR 86 is launched in Europe. Further details will follow later this year.
