Pascal Wehrlein (GER/car number 94), who recently clinched the first victory for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team in Mexico, finished eighth in the Eternal City. His teammate André Lotterer (GER/car number 36) finished two places behind. The second race of the double event in Rome will be held on Sunday.
On the Circuito Cittadino dell'EUR, at 3.380 kilometers the longest street circuit on the Formula E calendar, Pascal Wehrlein started the race from seventh on the grid, with André Lotterer right behind him in eighth. Shortly after the start, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, the Formula E safety car, had to be on the track due to an accident. The Porsche drivers drove a solid race and still had energy reserves compared to the competition halfway through the race, which they were unable to use to improve their positions due to a number of incidents. In the drivers' standings, Pascal Wehrlein is sixth with 34 points, André Lotterer is seventh with three points less. The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is third in the teams' standings after four of sixteen races with 65 points.
