The tide turned for the BMW teams on Sunday, with the BMW M6 GT3 finishing in the top five two times. Van der Linde already impressed with starting number # 31 in the qualification, in which he secured third place on the grid. In the race, the South African impressed with a spectacular overtaking maneuver, with which he passed Nico Müller (SUI / Audi) and Liam Lawson (NZL / Ferrari) at the same time. After the pit stops, van der Linde was in fourth place, which is where he finally crossed the finish line. From eleven on the grid, Wittmann showed a strong chase to catch up. He worked his way forward continuously and saw the checkered flag right behind van der Linde in fifth place. As a late consequence of a collision in the crowd on the first lap, Glock had to head for the pit early.
The second round of the 2021 DTM season will take place from July 23rd to 25th at the Lausitzring (GER).
