For the market launch in October 2022, there will initially be a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, which are combined as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch and, depending on the model, transfer their power to the road via the front wheels or the intelligent all-wheel drive BMW x Drive. Not only the all-electric BMW iX1 xDrive30, but also two plug-in hybrid models and two other variants with conventional drive and 48-volt mild hybrid technology will follow immediately afterwards. The new BMW X1 will be produced at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg, where for the first time models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems and purely electric drives will be produced on one production line.
With the BMW iX1, locally emission-free driving pleasure can be experienced in a vehicle segment that is growing worldwide and can therefore be experienced by a particularly broad target group. As a result, the compact SUV with the latest BMW eDrive technology provides strong impetus for a forced ramp-up of electromobility. In addition to the consistent electrification, the increased use of green electricity in production and in the supply chain as well as the increased use of secondary raw materials and natural materials contribute to the progress made in the area of sustainability compared to the previous model.
