In the drivers' standings of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Pascal Wehrlein is tenth after 13 of 16 races with 64 points. André Lotterer follows in eleventh place with 63 points. In the team classification, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team is in sixth place with 127 points.

After a good performance in qualifying, André Lotterer made it into the duels again and started the race from P8. With his Porsche 99X Electric, he was unable to take advantage of this promising starting position on the 2.141-kilometer track in East London's Docklands and finished twelfth without any points. His team-mate Pascal Wehrlein started from P18 after grip problems in qualifying, but saved a point for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team with a remarkable catch-up race in tenth place.
