In his first season with BMW and the BMW M4 GT3, Paul Miller Racing celebrated an early title win in the IMSA Sprint Cup Championship. With a sprint race still to come, fourth place in the GTD class in the race at Road America (USA) was enough. The #1 BMW M4 GT3 of Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow (both USA) has clinched two GTD sprint victories so far this season ( Long Beach and Lime Rock Park / USA), and with the result from Road America the drivers of the Paul Miller Racing Team now has 2343 points. In the last sprint race of the year at the end of August at the VIRginia International Raceway (USA), their lead can no longer be caught up. This is the first title win for the new BMW M4 GT3.
BMW M Team RLL experienced another difficult day and finished the two-hour, 40-minute race in fifth place in the GTD-PRO class. In a race that alternated between dry and wet conditions, the #25 MOTUL BMW M4 GT3 encountered difficulties on the first lap. John Edwards (USA), who started from fourth place, radioed that he had to stop to restart the system due to an electronic problem. Difficulties also arose during Connor De Phillippi's (USA) stints and the car finally finished fifth.
While Paul Miller Racing secured fourth place in the IMSA Sprint Cup Championship, Turner Motorsport was unlucky in the GTD class. Robby Foley (USA) started the race from pole position in the #96 BMW M4 GT3. He was in the lead for the entire first stint before handing the car over to Bill Auberlen (USA) after around 40 minutes, during the first yellow phase. Unfortunately, Auberlen was flipped at turn five late in the race when he was second and a secure podium position. This dropped him to tenth place, where he also finished the race.
