After three victories, Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) finished on the podium for the fourth time this DTM season in Sunday's race at Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). In second place, he further extended his lead in the drivers' standings. With four races to go, he is 32 points ahead of his closest pursuer with 130 points. In the team classification, Schubert Motorsport has 175 points, 37 more than the second-placed team. In addition to van der Linde, Philipp Eng (AUT) and Marco Wittmann (GER) also made it into the top ten at Spa-Francorchamps.
On Saturday, all of the BMW M4 GT3s had a hard time qualifying in the rain and the race on a drying track. Ultimately, Wittmann was the only one who was able to score points in ninth place. Van der Linde finished 12th empty-handed, but was fortunate that most of his title rivals were also unable to score any points. On Sunday, van der Linde showed strong nerves in qualifying on a drying track and finished second on the front row of the grid. From there he initially took the lead, which he lost to eventual winner Nick Cassidy (NZL, Ferrari) due to minor problems during the pit stop. Nevertheless, with the 18 points for second place and the two points for his qualifying result, he clearly extended his overall lead. His team colleague Philipp Eng fought for seventh place in Sunday's race with a few strong duels. On Saturday he was eliminated due to technical problems. In the second race, Wittmann repeated his ninth place from the previous day.
