Porsche wants to maximize its chances of its 20th overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For this reason, the works team Porsche Penske Motorsport for the long-distance classic on 10./11. June called a third Porsche 963. Today, Monday, the Le Mans organizer ACO confirmed the right to participate in the additional, around 500 kW (680 hp) hybrid prototype. The vehicle starts with the starting number 75. The sports car manufacturer is celebrating its 75th birthday in 2023, and the Le Mans race is celebrating its 100th anniversary at the same time. The customer team Hertz Team JOTA brings a fourth Porsche 963 to the start.

The American Dane Cameron, Michael Christensen from Denmark and the Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki alternate at the wheel of the Porsche 963 with starting number 5. Driving the sister car with the number 6 are Kévin Estre from France, the Belgian Laurens Vanthoor and the three-time Le Mans overall winner André Lotterer from Germany. Felipe Nasr (Brazil) will drive the number 75 car. His two team-mates will also come from the existing IMSA driver squad from Porsche Penske Motorsport. They will be announced at a later date. The customer team Hertz Team JOTA has nominated works driver António Félix da Costa from Portugal, the British Will Stevens and Yifei Ye for the starting number 38.
