Maximilian Günther (GER) celebrated his first win of the season in the tenth race of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in New York City (USA). From fourth on the grid he showed strong energy management and moved up from third to first place in the final laps. For Günther it was the third victory of his Formula E career and the first podium of the current season. For BMW i Andretti Motorsport it was the second success of season 7 after Jake Dennis (GBR) triumphed in Valencia (ESP). Dennis also showed a strong race at his premiere in New York, but fell far behind after a puncture and then off.

Günther drove a very clever and strategically good race under the eyes of Andretti team owner Michael Andretti (USA), who was a guest for his team for the first time this season in Formula E at the home game. He took the Attack Modes at exactly the right time and had more energy available in the closing stages than his direct competitors. When in front of him Jean-Éric Vergne (FRA, DS Techeetah) attacked the leader Nick Cassidy (NZL, Envision Virgin Racing) and both strayed from the ideal line, he used his great chance, passed both inside and took first place. He then drove this confidently to the finish. In the drivers' championship, Günther made a jump from 18th to twelfth place thanks to the 25 points for victory. With 53 points he is only one point behind Dennis in eleventh place. BMW i Andretti Motorsport is now sixth in the team classification with 107 points.
