The IONIQ 5 is the first model based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) developed by the Hyundai Motor Group especially for battery electric vehicles and at the same time the first of the new IONIQ sub-brand. Two battery sizes - 58 and 72.6 kWh - and all-wheel or rear-wheel drive are available for the electric CUV. Depending on the configuration, the e-vehicle achieves a system output of up to 225 kW / 305 PS (power consumption in kWh / 100 km: combined 18.8–16.3; CO2 emissions in g / km combined: 0) and offers a range of up to 485 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.

With its 800-volt technology, both battery options can be charged from 10 to 80 percent of their capacity at corresponding fast charging columns within 18 minutes. In addition, the IONIQ 5 has the vehicle-to-load function, with which the customer can supply any electrical device such as notebooks or e-scooters with up to 230 volts alternating current while driving or while stationary.

Natural materials are used in the interior and emphasize the sustainable character of the IONIQ 5. Flexibly adjustable front seats with relax function, with which the driver and front passenger can lean back at an ergonomically optimal angle, ensure maximum comfort. A 12.25-inch screen each for the cockpit and the infotainment system highlight the advanced connectivity of the E-CUV. Both the center console and the rear seat can be moved and thus adapted to individual needs. As one of the few electric cars, the IONIQ 5 can also pull trailers with a gross vehicle weight of up to 1,600 kilograms.
