The FIA World Endurance Championship WEC will complete its conversion to the vehicles in the FIA GT3 category next year. The GTE-Pro class, in which Porsche had successfully started with a works team for ten years, was already discontinued for the current 2023 season. The racing cars were prepared and used here by Manthey. The class win at Le Mans was achieved in the first year of use, 2013. In the current season, vehicles in the GTE category, which also includes the Porsche 911 RSR, are only allowed to compete in the GTE-Am amateur class. From 2024, only vehicles from the new LMGT3 class will be allowed in the GT grid, including the latest generation Porsche 911 GT3 R with up to 415 kW (565 hp). Due to the large field of participants in the top Hypercar category, the places in the LMGT3 category 2024 are very limited: Each interested manufacturer is only allocated two starting places. The selected team(s) will start next year after the WEC has confirmed their entry. Porsche chose Manthey for sporting, strategic and historical reasons.

Manthey is considered one of the most successful teams in the worldwide GT3 scene. At the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the team from Meuspath is the record winner with seven victories. The team has expanded its commitment for the 2023 season and entered the renowned DTM with two racing cars. With success: after three events, works driver Thomas Preining from Austria, on behalf of Manthey, is leading the drivers' championship.
