The new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 is another milestone in the Alfa Romeo brand's metamorphosis, which started at the beginning of 2022. It will only take five years from the first electrified model to a 100 percent emission-free and electrified range. Alfa Romeo has set itself the goal of achieving carbon neutrality as early as 2027 - significantly faster than other brands.
The drive developed exclusively for the new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 offers maximum efficiency and environmental friendliness. The advanced hybrid system combines a turbo petrol engine with an electric motor. With four cylinders and MultiAir valve control, the combustion engine produces an output of 132 kW (180 hp) from a displacement of 1.3 liters. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and drives the front axle. The electric motor on the rear axle delivers 90 kW (equivalent to 122 hp) and a maximum torque of 250 Newton meters. The lithium-ion battery (306 volts) with a capacity of 15.5 kilowatt hours enables an all-electric range of more than 80 kilometers in city traffic alone and more than 60 km on average. This makes the new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 one of the most efficient SUV models with this technology. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 combines efficiency and environmental protection with superior sportiness. With a system output of 206 kW (280 hp), it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds. The top speed is 135 km/h with electric power or 206 km/h in hybrid mode. The electronically controlled all-wheel drive ensures a particularly intense acceleration experience, because the electric motor on the rear axle makes its full torque available practically from a standstill.
