Bugatti Tourbillon "LA GRANDE PREMIÈRE" in Molsheim.
30-06-2024 18:23 - EVENTS
The premiere of the Tourbillon¹ not only marked the first vehicle from the Bugatti-Rimac collaboration, but also the first major event at Bugatti's headquarters in Molsheim since the 110th anniversary celebrations in 2019. The celebrations honored all those who have played an important role in Bugatti's history - from customers to partners to employees from every era of the brand - with a week of unparalleled experiences.
The highlight of the week, the highly exclusive 'La Grande Première', saw a handpicked group of more than 300 guests come together to be among the first to experience and celebrate the future of Bugatti. After being welcomed by the entire Board of Management, led by CEO Mate Rimac, President Christophe Piochon and Managing Director Hendrik Malinowski, guests had the opportunity to see an incredible selection of iconic models from the past - including icons such as the Type 57SC Atalante, celebrated as one of the most elegant cars in the world, the Type 35, considered the most successful racing car of all time, and the Type 41 Royale, seen as one of the most ambitious luxury cars of all time.
These vehicles, displayed like true works of art on the Bugatti site, are the cornerstone of Bugatti's inspiration and embody the essence of beauty, performance and luxury. Their timeless blueprint shaped the vision for the Tourbillon. The exhibition celebrated Bugatti's extraordinary past 20 years and showed the unparalleled path from the Veyron to the Chiron², marking the end of an era while honoring the giants who shaped the brand. Very rare models such as the most expensive new car sold at auction, the one-off Chiron Profilée, and the one-off La Voiture Noire, a tribute to Jean Bugatti's famous lost Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, were also on display.
With a glass of Bugatti Carbon Champagne in hand, guests were able to admire the latest Bugatti lifestyle creations during the aperitif: from the exclusive watches by Jacob & Co to the latest Baby Bugatti II by The Little Car Company or the very exclusive Asprey Egg.
In the Remise Sud, where customers are welcomed and guided through the personalization of their cars, a rare Centodieci and a legendary EB110 were on display. Jascha Straub, Head of Sur Mesure and Personalization, offered guests a live sketching experience on a car hood.
After a fine dinner with elegant music by a string quartet, held in an incredible 1920s-inspired pavilion in the park behind the famous Château Saint Jean, the anticipation was high for the unveiling of the first model of a new era at Bugatti: the Tourbillon. Christophe Piochon introduced the moment by looking back at the brand's 115-year history and paying tribute to the visionary people who made it possible - such as Ettore Bugatti, the company's founder, Romano Artioli, who was in the audience, or Ferdinand Piech, who revived the brand 20 years ago. After a mesmerizing modern dance performance, Bugatti's new hyper sports car drove through a portal onto the big stage with a dramatic entrance.
At the wheel of the Tourbillon sat Bugatti Pilote Officiel Andy Wallace, accompanied by Bugatti Rimac CEO Mate Rimac. After a turn on the turntable, the doors of the Tourbillon swung open. Mate Rimac got out and revealed the name of Bugatti's latest icon. Under the motto "Forme Follows Performance", he gave an insight into the technical capabilities of the vehicle and highlighted the incomparable design.
Combining more than a century of experience in developing top-of-the-range vehicles, the Bugatti Tourbillon features an all-new chassis, performance-optimized bodywork, a new V16 engine and an electrified powertrain. When Mate Rimac unveiled the car, his excitement was palpable and reflected the audience's anticipation. The Bugatti Tourbillon embodies the French automotive brand's timeless craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology and marks the beginning of a new era guided by the visionary spirit of founder Ettore Bugatti. The audience's admiration reflected Mate's passion and created a shared moment of excitement and confidence for the future.
Following the impressive unveiling of the Tourbillon, Frank Heyl, Director of Design at Bugatti, took the stage and passionately explained the sophisticated thinking and groundbreaking innovations behind the concept. Heyl's explanation highlighted the meticulous design process and visionary ideas that shaped the Tourbillon.
The premiere of the Tourbillon is a defining moment for Bugatti and Mate Rimac, whose vision for the future is unmistakable. With the new icon, Bugatti wanted to create a vehicle that surpasses all previous standards - and ultimately strives for incomparability. This philosophy will run through all the brand's endeavors. Rooted in the heritage of its giants, Bugatti is ready to surpass all standards of excellence.
Following the unveiling, guests were invited on stage to view the car up close and chat with the Bugatti team. This event, which was livestreamed to a global audience, showcased the creation of a new icon.
In the run-up to an unforgettable world premiere, Bugatti gave an exclusive group of enthusiasts the chance to experience a "Petit Tour" of Alsace, a tailor-made adventure designed especially for them to kick off the festivities. The event began with a private dinner at the 5 Terres Hotel & Spa in Barr and included a convoy through the enchanting Alsace countryside led by Bugatti Pilote Officiel Pierre-Henri Raphanel, who has held this role since 2005. The parade, which featured some of Bugatti's most notable models, including a never-before-seen Mistral prototype, concluded at Bugatti's headquarters in Molsheim after visiting the Château Du Hohlandsbourg and Château Ollwiller. Guests then returned to their hotels to freshen up and prepare for the world premiere.
After the world premiere of the new Bugatti Tourbillon for its customers and partners, Bugatti extended the celebrations to its enthusiasts and friends. On June 22, over 200 guests gathered to experience the Tourbillon up close and underline the close connection between the classic and modern worlds of Bugatti. Throughout the morning, participants - including members of the Club Bugatti France, the Enthousiastes Bugatti Alsace, the Musée de l'Automobile de Mulhouse and esteemed collectors who arrived at the company premises despite the rain behind the wheel of the most extraordinary classic Bugattis - had the opportunity to connect Bugatti's rich heritage and visions for the future.
To honor the commitment of the Bugatti and Bugatti Rimac colleagues who made this new era possible, Bugatti hosted a family day that afternoon, attended by over 1,000 guests. The event included the opportunity for exclusive walks through the Bugatti workshop and guided tours along the brand's most important historic vehicles on display at the Molsheim site.
For those who have put their careers at the service of Bugatti, this special afternoon with their families and a visit to their second home was very emotional. It was enriched with activities such as a magician, a photo booth in front of the majestic Type 41 Royale, coloring in Bugatti sketches, but also food and drinks and the unveiling of the Tourbillon, the result of countless hours of hard work and energy from the whole team.
During the activities surrounding the world premiere of the Tourbillon, every moment was an ode to Bugatti's past, present and future - a tribute to the enduring spirit of excellence that has characterized the brand for over a century. A grand gathering of the Bugatti family that marks the beginning of this new, unparalleled era.
