Audi will cease production of internal combustion engines by 2033, AUDI AG CEO Markus Duesmann said at the Berlin climate conference that Audi is ready for the decisive step towards the electric age.
Production of the latest internal combustion engine model will begin in just four years. The company accelerates the transition to electric mobility: the production of internal combustion engines will be phased out by 2033. Audi aims for a long-term carbon neutral balance of all the brand's activities by 2050.
The exact times for the interruption of the production of internal combustion engines will be decided by the Customers and by the legislative provisions. The company expects demand in China to continue beyond 2033, which is why the supply of locally produced endothermic cars could continue, limited to the Asian country. At the same time, Audi will significantly expand its BEV range. With the launch of the Audi e-tron GT quattro, Audi RS e-tron GT, Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, Audi will bring more electric cars to market in 2021 than traditional models. By 2025, the brand will be able to count on over 20 electric-only models.
