Lexus gave an outlook on the electromobility of the future at the first Japan Mobility Show 2023 (October 26 to November 5): In Tokyo, the premium brand is presenting two battery-electric concept vehicles to the world for the first time. While the Lexus LF-ZC sedan points to a production model planned for 2026, the LF-ZL embodies the company's vision of an all-electric SUV flagship.
Lexus LF-ZC
The designers' goal was an elegantly condensed shape with a low center of gravity. The focus was on aerodynamics and electro-specific functional and structural elements. The slim silhouette extends from the low hood over the tapered cabin to the rear. The flared rear wheel arches provide a balance between aerodynamic performance and wide stance. The body's spindle design extends from the front through the sides of the vehicle to the rear bumper, embodying a comprehensive evolution of form and function. Aerodynamic components such as the air inlets and outlets are elegantly integrated into the design to create an emotionally appealing exterior that ensures aerodynamic performance without creating visual mass-produced goods.
As a harbinger of future model generations, the concept vehicle sets new standards in many respects. Lexus uses the design freedom that comes with an electric vehicle - and the elimination of the engine compartment - for a target air resistance coefficient (c W ) of less than 0.2. The flat hood also improves visibility. A next-generation prismatic high-performance high-voltage battery doubles the range compared to conventional electric cars. Range worries are now a thing of the past; the sedan can even handle long distances without any problems.

While the LF-ZC offers a near-production preview, the LF-ZL Concept embodies the future company vision of a fully electric flagship. It is based on the vehicle architecture for next-generation electric vehicles and comes with the new “Arene OS” operating software and a spacious interior that promotes relaxation. Lexus' “Omotenashi” principle of hospitality is taken to the extreme and ensures a first-class driving experience.
By leveraging all the capabilities of Arene OS, the vehicle recognizes, learns and anticipates the driver's needs, resulting in a personalized mobility experience. Interaction with various social infrastructures and services is also possible. Through Interactive Reality in Motion*, the vehicle's sensors work together with digital data from the environment. If the driver points to an object or place while driving, information is immediately shown on the display and read out.
