London E-Prix, round 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

25-07-2021 15:05 - MOTORSPORT
After setting his best time in qualifying, André Lotterer (GER) narrowly missed the third podium of the season for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team at the London E-Prix. With his Porsche 99X Electric, he took fourth place on the ExCeL Track in the historic Docklands of East London in the field of 24 vehicles. For Porsche it was the racing premiere in the British metropolis. The 2.25-kilometer route on the Thames is the most spectacular in Formula E because it partly leads through an exhibition hall and thus presents drivers and teams with very special challenges. In the second Porsche 99X Electric, Pascal Wehrlein (GER) also finished tenth in the points.

André Lotterer set the first exclamation mark of the race weekend in the British metropolis in qualifying. With the fastest time, his first of the season, he moved into the Super Pole, where he secured fifth starting position. Shortly after the start of the twelfth race of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which was last held in London in 2016, he improved by one position and set out to pursue the front. With the attack mode, the drivers were able to secure additional energy twice for eight minutes each (usually four minutes). When he wanted to activate it for the second time, Lotterer missed one of the three route markings that he would have had to cross. As a result, he fell back to fifth place at the beginning of the second half of the race. Due to the disqualification of a competitor, he moved up one position. His team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, who in fourth place in New York City narrowly missed his second podium for Porsche, started and finished the race in twelfth position. Due to the disqualification of a team, it made it into the points in tenth place.
