The new Renault Clio

11-03-2026 08:47 - CAR NEWS
The sixth generation of the Renault Clio impresses with a new, distinctive style: a technically sophisticated, highly precise, next-generation hatchback with a particularly sculptural silhouette and powerful look that reflects the brand's modern approach to design and technology.

The new Renault Clio has been improved in every respect. This is particularly true for its powertrain range, which makes it the most efficient model in Renault's hybrid portfolio. With the new Full Hybrid E-Tech powertrain, which is even more powerful and efficient than its predecessor, the Clio now achieves a record CO2 emission of just 89 g / km and a combined fuel consumption of only 3.9 liters/100 km. Compared to a conventional gasoline engine, it saves up to 40 percent fuel and operates in electric mode for up to 80 percent of the time in urban traffic. In addition, there is another revised gasoline engine available.

Particular attention was also paid to the quality of the interior. Recycled materials, a double V-shaped screen with OpenR link multimedia system and integrated Google, a multitude of technological features and up to 29 state-of-the-art advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) enhance the Clio and move it towards a higher segment.

The new Renault Clio has everything it needs to appeal to a wide range of customers: private and business customers, loyal Clio drivers across generations, as well as new customers looking for a compact, versatile, and dynamic hatchback. Orders for the new Renault Clio can be placed later this year.

Expressive design
The sixth generation of the Renault Clio opens a new chapter: Inspired by the Emblème concept car, the design teams have developed a sculptural, sensual silhouette and a striking LED look, creating an attractive and expressive car. It's a new look for a new generation of Renault vehicles.

Exterior design: dynamic and sensual
The Clio's redesigned proportions are immediately apparent. The longer hood, the extended wheelbase of 2,591 mm (+8 mm), and the dynamic roofline reminiscent of an ultra-compact coupé give the Clio a look that redefines the rules of this segment. The roofline is accentuated by a shark-fin antenna and complemented by an integrated spoiler. The Clio has grown in all dimensions compared to its predecessor: in length – with extended overhangs – by 67 mm to 4,116 mm, in width by 39 mm to 1,768 mm, and in height by 11 mm to 1,451 mm.

Front view: Striking personality
The new front view is expressive and spectacular. While the character lines on the hood converge into a striking, diamond-patterned grille, the large daytime running lights display a new light signature reminiscent of the logo's diamond. These are complemented by the assertive expression of the projector headlights, housed in a black casing.

Dynamic lines create tension
The streamlined silhouette of the new Clio, which alternates between concave and convex shapes, is brought to life by precisely defined, dynamic lines. These catch the light and lend the side view vibrancy and dynamism. The black wheel arches (matte on the entry-level version and glossy on higher trim levels) further enhance the sporty appearance. The 18-inch alloy wheels (depending on the trim level) and the increased width of the vehicle (an additional 39 mm) also contribute to its strong visual presence on the road.

More athletic design
Several design elements characteristic of the Clio are retained in the new generation, such as the elegantly concealed rear door handles. The contour of the sloping rear windows has been refined, making the Clio the only car in its segment with concealed weatherstripping. With its steeply raked rear window and distinctive boot line, it presents an athletic look, further emphasized by four sports car-inspired taillights.

Seven body colors
The new Renault Clio is available in seven body colors, two of which are new: Absolut Red and Absolut Green. The other colors are Arctic White, Dolomite Grey, Rafale Grey, Black Pearl Black, and Iron Blue.

Interior design: Modernity and technology
Inside the spacious interior of the new Clio, the improvements over previous generations are immediately apparent. The dashboard features new materials and a new grain pattern. Depending on the trim level, the passenger side is upholstered in fabric, including ambient lighting with a choice of 48 colors. White lighting is also integrated into the door panels. In the top-of-the-line Esprit Alpine, the fabric accents are replaced with Alcantara; the area around the air vents is also finished with an innovative colored chrome gradient, creating a high-tech, burnt-metal look.

Digital Cockpit
Drivers receive information via a dual 10.1-inch V-shaped touchscreen, with the central screen angled towards the driver. The compact steering wheel, adopted from higher-segment models, offers numerous functional advantages in addition to its premium look: for example, the reduced steering wheel rotations (down from 3.3 to 2.6) for enhanced agility, and the MULTI SENSE button for selecting driving modes, each linked to specific interior lighting. The redesigned seats utilize recycled materials, special graphic patterns, and colored stitching (depending on the trim level), contributing to a dynamic driving position.

Spacious interior with plenty of storage space
Inside, there's still comfortable seating for five people. New storage solutions, including a center console compartment with a soft cover (depending on the trim level), provide added functionality. Up front, there are two USB-C ports and a wireless smartphone charging pad (depending on the trim level), while in the rear, there's a 12V socket for connecting devices such as a USB adapter or a cooler.

More convenient loading and unloading
The boot offers a capacity of up to 391 liters (depending on the powertrain). The loading sill is 40 mm lower than in the previous generation, making loading and unloading easier. The button for opening the boot is integrated directly into the tailgate.

Ubiquitous eco-design
In the Esprit Alpine trim level, the new Renault Clio is made from over 33.7 percent low-impact materials (24 percent recycled materials, plus offcuts and waste). The full hybrid Esprit Alpine is over 85 percent recyclable and features 18-inch alloy wheels made from at least 50 percent recycled aluminum. The dashboard is made from at least 50 percent recycled polypropylene (center console: 39 percent), and the bumper is made from 100 percent recycled plastic.

Stylish accessories
Accessories designed specifically for the Clio further accentuate the vehicle's personality. For example, a rear spoiler is available, perfectly matched to the Clio's lines and emphasizing its dynamic appearance. It comes standard in black and is seamlessly attached with a strong adhesive that is also suitable for high-pressure cleaning. Along the sides of the vehicle, side moldings subtly combine style and functionality, enhancing the model's sporty look while simultaneously protecting the lower body frame.

Highly efficient and powerful: Three drives for every application
The dynamic design of the sixth-generation Clio is perfectly complemented by the range of powerful engines. At the top of the powertrain lineup is the 158 hp E-Tech full hybrid, which offers the best balance of performance and efficiency in its class.

The Clio boasts three new, lively engines, ranging in power from 115 to 158 hp, designed to take full advantage of the agile chassis and wider track. Based on the CMF-B platform, the new Clio offers superior comfort, segment-leading dynamic handling, and meticulous noise insulation. This makes the Clio more versatile than ever, suitable for all needs and purposes, from commuting on busy city streets to long motorway journeys, for both private and fleet customers.

Full Hybrid E-Tech with 158 hp: Electrified top version
The Full Hybrid E-Tech 158 is the top-of-the-line version of the sixth-generation Clio. Developed by Horse Powertrain, this powertrain, combined with the intelligent multi-mode transmission, delivers exceptional driving pleasure, dynamic performance – accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, a full second faster than its predecessor – and uncompromising efficiency. CO2 emissions are a record-breaking low 89 g/km, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is just 3.9 liters per 100 km – less than the 143 hp Full Hybrid E-Tech and up to 40 percent less than a conventional gasoline engine. At the same time, the new Clio Full Hybrid E-Tech 158 can drive in electric mode for up to 80 percent of the time in cities and metropolitan areas. On highways, the vehicle offers a range of up to 1,000 km.
The full hybrid system combines two electric motors (a 36 kW drive motor and a 15 kW high-voltage starter-generator) with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection and Atkinson cycle. The gasoline engine develops an output of 80 kW/109 hp (an increase of 11 kW/15 hp compared to its predecessor) and is coupled with a new intelligent clutchless multi-mode transmission and a 1.4 kWh battery.

Intelligent transmission controls the interaction of the hybrid components
The intelligent multi-mode transmission of the Full Hybrid E-Tech 160 utilizes Formula 1 technology. It features two gear ratios for the electric motor and four for the combustion engine. A total of 15 combinations between the electric and combustion engines are possible, optimizing driving pleasure, fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions .

The multi-mode transmission automatically selects the operating mode of the hybrid system:
fully electric (only the electric motor drives the wheels)dynamic hybrid (combined drive by combustion and electric motor)e-drive (the electric motor drives the wheels while the combustion engine charges the battery)Internal combustion engine (the petrol engine drives the wheels and/or charges the battery)Energy recovery (the wheels drive the electric motor, which charges the battery)In addition, the new Clio has four driving modes that allow adjustment of the powertrain response and steering assistance.

Lively basic version
The entry-level version of the new Renault Clio comes equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder TCe engine producing 115 hp – a significant increase in power compared to the previous generation. Power is transmitted either via a manual transmission or with a new option that is sure to appeal to many customers: a responsive, highly efficient six-speed EDC dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Multimedia and connectivity
Highly connected and equipped with the best technologies from larger Renault models: The new Renault Clio sets standards in infotainment and connectivity. The all-in-one OpenR link infotainment system with integrated Google, a free data package, and extensive connectivity offers an operating and user experience comparable to Renault's premium models. The system also includes connected maintenance services and over-the-air software updates. The 29 driver assistance systems, along with the Safety Score and Safety Coach features, complete the new Clio's exceptionally comprehensive technology offering.

Next-generation infotainment
With the new model generation, the OpenR link multimedia system with integrated Google services makes its debut in the Clio. It features two 10-inch screens, one of which is a central display facing the driver, and a comprehensive range of connected infotainment services. These include Google Maps for mapping and navigation, Google Assistant voice control (which can also be used to control some vehicle functions), and Google Play with access to more than 100 apps. Exclusive partner apps include some of the world's most popular radio stations (with "Radioplayer for Renault"), music streaming platforms (e.g., Amazon Music), video streaming services (e.g., Prime Video), premium subscription services (e.g., HBO Max), an exclusive music game for passengers (SongPop for Renault), and an internet browser (Vivaldi).

Free data package included
A comprehensive free data package is included for using the in-car apps: Customers receive 2 GB of free data per month for three years (or until the end of their vehicle lease agreement with Mobilize Financial Services) to use apps downloaded from Google Play. This allows, for example, 40 hours of music streaming in standard quality or up to three hours of video streaming. Purchasing an additional data plan is also possible.

Since the apps and data are integrated into the vehicle's infotainment system, using a smartphone while driving is unnecessary. This increases safety and prevents the device from overheating.

The new data package will soon be available in all Renault vehicles.

Advanced connectivity
All infotainment and connectivity functions are displayed on the two 10-inch screens; the central screen, angled towards the driver, is standard equipment in all models. Smartphones can be wirelessly connected to the infotainment system via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charging pad for smartphones is integrated into the center console, depending on the trim level.

Using the "My Renault" smartphone app, owners can stay connected to the new Clio even when they're not in the car, for example to locate it and access certain vehicle data. The Clio's onboard system also now supports over-the-air updates and connected maintenance services.

Premium-Sound
A high-quality Harman Kardon audio system is available as an option for the new Clio. It offers five soundscapes designed by Jean-Michel Jarre (Studio, Podcast, Concert, Immersion and Club), which are reproduced via ten channels with a total output of 410 watts.

Security: Comprehensive support
The range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) has been significantly expanded for the new Renault Clio. Depending on the trim level, up to 29 functions are available, including several making their debut in the Clio: for example, the intelligent adaptive cruise control Active Driver Assist (which debuted in this segment in the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric), emergency lane keeping assist, front and rear obstacle detection, reversing emergency braking, and exit assist. Adaptive cruise control is also standard on all versions.

The reversing camera and the 360° camera now deliver high-resolution images to simplify parking. Standard equipment also includes an automatic parking brake.

As with other Renault models, up to five ADAS systems can be switched on or off simultaneously using the My Safety Switch on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel.

Built-in safety
With its “Human First” program launched in 2023, Renault aims to improve safety for drivers, passengers and other road users worldwide through a variety of technological advancements.

The new Renault Clio is already prepared for the upcoming "General Safety Regulation 2.3" standard: Advanced driver monitoring uses an interior camera to detect fatigue and distraction.

Furthermore, the new Clio features Safety Score and Safety Coach, which help reduce the risk of accidents. Safety Score analyzes driving style based on data collected by sensors regarding speed, vehicle position within the lane, and distance, and rates it on a scale of 0 to 100 at the end of each journey. In the Clio, the system now also utilizes driver monitoring for the first time, enabling an even more comprehensive analysis of driving behavior. Additionally, Safety Coach, a technology that won the 2024 Road Safety Innovation Award, provides personalized tips for improving driving safety.

Another feature is the Safety Monitor: It is now also available as a dashboard widget and displays short text messages that can be read safely while driving.

The new Clio is also equipped with QRescue, a QR code that provides rescue services with important information in emergencies.
