The new luxury SUV can be recognized by the design of the front and rear sections. At the front, the entire unit consisting of the radiator grille, headlights and front apron has been redesigned. The rear section has also been sharpened: with a continuous LED crossbar on the rear lights and a VW logo 02, which is illuminated in red for the first time on a Volkswagen model in Germany. Until now, the luminous brand logo was only permitted in markets such as China or the USA. Volkswagen has further developed the chassis of the always all-wheel drive Touareg. Among other things, the Touareg now comes standard with a new roof load sensor that is networked with the chassis electronics. If the roof load is detected, it allows the control systems such as the ESC to intervene earlier in order to increase driving stability. If, on the other hand, there is no roof load, the systems allow a higher sporty performance. Depending on the version, the Touareg is available with innovative chassis systems such as active roll compensation (adaptive chassis) and all-wheel steering. This makes the luxury SUV even more active.
The Touareg is equipped with a large number of comfort and assistance systems as standard. A wide range of optional systems is also available. These include the following technologies:
"Travel Assist" (assisted driving up to maximum speed)
"Travel Assist" (assisted driving up to maximum speed)
"Park Assist Plus with remote control" (via an app for automatic parking maneuvers that the driver can control from outside)
"Trailer Assist" (for assisted maneuvering with a trailer)
"Nightvision" (night vision support).
The new Touareg comes on the market with five drive versions. In addition to a turbo petrol engine, there are two turbo diesel and two plug-in hybrids to choose from. All highly efficient engines are coupled as standard to an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive.
The Touareg R eHybrid is the independent top model of the series with the most powerful drive: a V6 petrol engine plus electric motor with a system output of 340 kW (462 hp) 01 . The latest generation continues a long tradition of the Touareg R models with high-tech features and customized equipment. They were all developed by Volkswagen R, Volkswagen's premium performance brand. The new model has as standard:
