A premium pick-up for Australia and New Zealand, many countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Its equipment, more than 20 new assistance systems, mobile online services, engines that are as efficient as they are high in torque, two all-wheel drive technologies, tailor-made accessories and the clear Volkswagen design DNA make the new Amarok one of the world's most versatile and well-balanced pick-ups. The premium pick-up will be launched in the first countries from the end of the year.
The new Amarok will be launched with a four-door crew cab (DoubleCab) and a two-door single cab (SingleCab). The fenders over the up to 21-inch light-alloy wheels are powerfully flared and covered with a robust plastic in the area of the wheel arches.
Four turbo diesel engines (TDI) and one turbo petrol engine (TSI) were developed for the new Amarok. All five engines are united by their efficiency and high torque. The basic engine will be used on the African market, for example: a 2.0-liter TDI with four cylinders and 110 kW (150 hp). In terms of performance, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI with 125 kW (170 hp) will follow for many markets around the world. In the third TDI performance level, VWN will offer a four-cylinder with a displacement of 2.0 liters and bi-turbo charging; depending on the market, it develops 150 kW (204 hp) or 154 kW (209 hp). From an output of 154 kW, all Amarok versions will come onto the market with a new 10-speed automatic transmission operated by E-Shifter (by wire) as standard. This automatic system will be available as an option for the 150 kW version. The new 10-speed gearbox replaces the previous 8-speed automatic. In addition, for different engines there will be a 6-speed automatic, as well as 6-speed and 5-speed manual transmissions.
The Amarok is delivered with all-wheel drive (4MOTION) as standard in numerous markets. Depending on the region and engine, there will be two different 4MOTION systems: one with all-wheel drive that can be switched on depending on the situation and one with permanent all-wheel drive. The drive technology ensures that the new Amarok can handle any terrain and, depending on the engine version, can pull up to 3.5 tons.
